So lately, I stumbled into the latest ear candy from Chase & Status - their new track, Mixed Emotions.
This tune hits different.
It’s like a nostalgic blast from the all nighters at Output, reminding me of those moments in the club where you felt like you were vibing with someone, but it never went anywhere. Alas, COVID came and changed the game for the dance music scene here in NYC where I’m based. Most of these legendary venues are gone. I wanted capture the essence of the song in my own unique way - something that’s bass heavy, with a touch of 80s synth influence. And, boy oh boy, I’m feeling pretty pleased with how it turned out.
Who knows, maybe it’ll take you back to some of those same nostalgic moments on the dance floor - or on a Drive, perhaps? .
